Jammu Police have registered a case against a woman, identified as Palaparthy Naga Anagha Lakshmi, who is described in the intelligence input as the wife of a senior Army officer, for allegedly collecting and transmitting sensitive and confidential information having a bearing on national security to operatives associated with foreign intelligence agencies, including China.

The FIR, registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station as FIR No. 290/2026, invokes Sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, along with Sections 152 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said further investigation was underway.

According to the official sources, the woman, a resident of Secunderabad in Telangana who is presently residing within the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar Police Station in Jammu, allegedly came under suspicion following information received from a reliable source.

The allegations centre on the suspected clandestine collection, possession and transmission of sensitive documents, photographs and electronic data linked to matters concerning the security of the State.

Police suspect that such information was allegedly being shared through encrypted communication channels with individuals associated with foreign intelligence agencies.

The police input specifically mentions China and other foreign countries, alleging that the suspected activity could have exposed information of strategic and operational significance. However, the precise nature of the documents allegedly collected, the identities of the suspected foreign contacts and the extent of any information transfer have not been disclosed in the available police account.

The allegations are yet to be established through investigation or judicial proceedings.

The case has drawn attention to the security implications of the alleged handling of confidential material in Jammu and Kashmir, a strategically sensitive Union Territory. The investigation is expected to establish whether any protected documents or electronic records were actually accessed or transmitted, the nature of the information involved, and whether any foreign intelligence network was connected to the alleged activity.

Under Section 3 of the Official Secrets Act, offences relating to the collection or communication of information prejudicial to national security are covered by the law. Section 5 addresses the wrongful communication, retention and handling of protected information.

Police have not publicly disclosed further details about the alleged communications, any material recovered, or whether arrests or searches have been carried out. The case remains under investigation.
