Srinagar: A non-Muslim worker was shot dead by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists on Monday when he had gone to a market for purchasing milk in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. The worker, identified as Deepu from Udhampur district of Jammu region, was working in a circus that was camping at Janglaat Mandi area which was provided security, they said. The circus people had their own security as well. The victim had gone to a nearby market to purchase milk when two motorcycle-borne youths fired three bullets at him from a close range at 8.30 pm, police said.

'Tuesday, May 30, 2023': JAMMU: The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR), under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, discussed proposal pertaining to the allocation of funds for State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and approved, among others, allocation of funds to the tune of Rs 28 crores to Deputy Commissioners and two Divisional Commissioners, to cover their expenditure for the current financial year. The SEC also considered the proposal for the procurement of rescue equipment, including excavators, fire-fighting equipment, signal units, drones, etc., with an estimated cost of Rs 8.91 crores, which is to be financed through the SDRF.

Preparations are being made on bringing investment proposals of Rs 50,000 to 60,000 crore in Jammu and Kashmir during the budget announcement next year.
