SRINAGAR/JAMMU, June 10: Parts of Kashmir witnessed hailstorms and heavy rainfall on Tuesday, providing temporary relief from rising temperatures, even as heatwave conditions persisted in several areas of Jammu division, particularly Udhampur.
The Meteorological Department has forecast a change in weather from June 11 to June 14, with light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds expected across many parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Director of the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, Mukhtar Ahmad, said wind speeds may reach 40–50 kmph, with gusts up to 60 kmph at isolated places.
Officials have also warned of possible flash floods, mudslides and localized flooding in vulnerable areas during the period. Residents, farmers and travellers have been advised to follow weather advisories and exercise caution.
The expected rainfall is likely to bring relief from the ongoing heatwave across the region.
