Jammu: A brief but significant face-off between BSF personnel and Pakistani Rangers along the International Border in Jammu’s Pargwal sector, coupled with intensified search operations across Rajouri, Kathua and Samba districts, kept the security grid on high alert.
The border interaction occurred at the Zero Line near Border Outpost (BoP) Matkula when Pakistani Rangers objected to ongoing repair and strengthening work being carried out by the BSF along a composite bundh in the forward area.
According to sources, Rangers from Pakistan’s Noor Post sought an interaction and raised objections over the use of heavy machinery near the International Border.
BSF officials reportedly clarified that the work was part of routine maintenance and reinforcement of existing border infrastructure, including bundhs, bunkers and roads. After a brief exchange, both sides disengaged and returned to their respective posts without any escalation.
Meanwhile, anti-terror operations continued in the dense forests of Rajouri’s Manjakote sector, where intermittent firing was reported from the Dhorimal-Gambhir Mughlan belt. Security forces have been conducting extensive searches in the area since last month following intelligence inputs about the possible presence of terrorists.
In Kathua district, a joint team of SOG Sadrota and CRPF launched a large-scale search operation in the Gaganpur Top, Nartondi and Seri Gala areas under Malhar sector, while in Samba district security personnel intensified searches near Bindu Paida and Parray Top after suspicious torchlight movement was reported during the night by a Village Defence Committee member.
Adding to the security concerns, a live mortar shell was reported from Dhaki Channi in Mendhar sector of Poonch district. Authorities were alerted immediately and standard safety procedures initiated to neutralize the explosive.
The developments come amid sustained counter-terror operations and heightened security vigilance across the Jammu region, particularly in border and forest areas where security agencies continue to monitor suspicious movement and potential infiltration attempts.
