Jammu: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted a search at the office of the District Mining Officer (DMO), located at the JDA Complex in New Plot, Jammu, and examined official files and electronic records.
A CBI team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar reached the office at around 1 pm and carried out a detailed inspection of manual records and computer data. The exercise continued for over four hours, with the team leaving the premises at approximately 5:35 pm.
According to information available, no official documents or records were taken into custody during the operation.
The agency’s action also coincided with reports of a search at the Public Works Department (PWD) office in Nowshera, Rajouri district. However, details of the reported operation were not immediately available.
The searches have drawn attention to the CBI’s activities in the region, but the agency has not disclosed the specific allegations or circumstances prompting the inspections. No official statement was available on the purpose of the searches or whether any preliminary findings had emerged.
While the examination of records at the Mining Officer’s office comes amid scrutiny of regulatory and administrative functioning in the mining sector, no specific mining-related irregularity has been officially linked to the operation so far.
Further details are awaited.
