New Delhi, June 19: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) J&K president and Doda MLA Mehraj Malik on criticised the National Conference (NC)-led government, alleging that the mandate given by the people of Jammu and Kashmir is being undermined and that key promises made to the public remain unfulfilled.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Malik said the people had voted for change and better governance, but claimed that the government has failed to deliver on their expectations. He alleged that budgets are announced and widely publicised, yet their implementation on the ground remains inadequate.
The AAP leader also raised the issue of the NC’s promise of providing 200 units of free electricity. He claimed that instead of receiving relief, consumers are facing higher power bills, including beneficiaries belonging to BPL families. Malik further alleged that the Chief Minister has not provided satisfactory answers to questions related to public welfare.
He said the government often cites administrative limitations and the role of the Lieutenant Governor for delays in decision-making, but maintained that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve accountability and responsive governance.
Accusing the National Conference of betraying the trust of the people, Malik said the Aam Aadmi Party would continue to raise issues affecting ordinary citizens.
“Statehood is important, but so is the fight for the rights and aspirations of the people,” Malik said.
