The regard for the Tiranga should not be restricted to such events only since the Tricolour is our identity: CM Omar Abdullah
AUG 12: With 79th Independence Day around the corner, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, flanked by Cabinet Ministers and other officials, led mega Tiranga Rally in Srinagar.
Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha, Minister of Health and Medical Education, School Education and Social Welfare Sakina Itoo, Minister of Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana, Minister of Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Javed Dar were present on the occasion.
At the outset, CM Omar said that we should remember the era when we’re not permitted to hoist the National Flag at homes. But today, with the unrelenting efforts of one man we have been able to hoist the tricolour at homes.”
CM Omar Abdullah said, “One person who set out to change the rules and laws… He went to United States and found his friends have flags of their respective countries but he was not permitted to keep flag of his country in his room… He returned to India and agitated… He knocked the doors of the Court and asked the Government to change the rules and give the freedom to every citizen to hoist tricolour at home.”
“What I mean to say is that we can do anything all alone if our intentions are right,” said CM Omar Abdullah.
He said that it is not necessary to have a group to save the dignity of Tricolour as it can be done by one person also.
While underscoring the importance of Indian Flag, CM Omar Abdullah stressed upon the fact, “The regard for the Tiranga should not be restricted to such events only as the Tricolour is our identity and we should commemorate those who have made the supreme sacrifice to take Tiranga to new heights.”
