Jammu: BJP leader Tarun Chugh has accused Congress leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi, of mocking and disrespecting Sanatan Dharma. Chugh claimed that the Gandhi family and Congress leaders have developed a pattern of undermining the sentiments of Sanatan believers to appease their allies and followers.
He criticized the Congress party for questioning Sanatan traditions, festivals, and practices, contrasting it with their silence on issues like the Haj subsidy. “Can Congress ever make similar remarks about Haj subsidies or Iftar parties?” Chugh questioned, accusing Congress of a double standard when addressing matters of religious significance.
Highlighting the success of the Kumbh Mela under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Chugh praised the government’s efforts to promote India’s cultural heritage and religious tourism. He noted that events like the Kumbh Mela have significantly boosted India’s economy by attracting millions of pilgrims and tourists from across the globe.
“While the Congress mocks Sanatan Dharma, the Modi government is enhancing India’s religious and cultural identity on the world stage,” Chugh added.
In response to Rahul and Sonia Gandhi’s alleged remarks on Sanatan traditions, Chugh urged them to apologize to Sanatan believers worldwide, stating that their statements have hurt the sentiments of millions.
Chugh also welcomed the government’s initiatives to facilitate Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimages, calling it a “milestone” in promoting religious tourism and easing access for Shiva devotees globally. “Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India is achieving remarkable progress in every field, and this is another step toward preserving and promoting our Sanatan heritage,” Chugh remarked.
The BJP leader concluded by urging opposition leaders to stop undermining India’s cultural and religious traditions and instead focus on uniting the country.
