‘PM Modi’s 11-year reign will be written in golden letters in history’

Jammu: Union home minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu on May 29 and 30, during which he is expected to review the security situation and hold key meetings with local officials and stakeholders.

This would be his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, described by the government as the biggest ever response to terrorism and a resolute message to the perpetrators of the Pahalgam carnage that such heinous acts will face unrelenting consequences.

The official sources in Jammu said that apart from holding a series of meeting with the senior officials of the administration and security top brass, the home minister will visit Poonch, the worst hit in the recent India-Pakistan military escalation, and meet the families of the slain and also those who lost their dwellings in the cross-LoC artillery firing.

Amit Shah had last visited J&K on April 23, a day after 25 Hindu tourists and a local Muslim horse-handler were killed in a terror attack at Baisaran, a meadow about five kilometres from the Valley’s premier resort Pahalgam, to review the security situation.

During a visit to the site of the carnage, he had asked the security forces who had launched a high-tech counter-terror operation in the Kashmir hills following the ghastly and unexpected attack on tourists to chase the perpetrators to the gates of hell.

After paying homage to the victims at a wreath-laying ceremony held in capital Srinagar, the home minister had vowed, “Bharat will not bend to terror”. He had said, “The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared.”

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 11-year reign will be written in golden letters in history.

Speaking at the 150th anniversary of Madhavbagh Laxminarayan temple here, Shah, who spoke in Gujarati, said that those who didn’t know the value of “ek chutki sindoor” were informed about it through ‘Operation Sindoor’.

“Modi has completed 11 years as the prime minister. The son of Gujarat is committed to the nation’s development, economic growth and national security. Those who violated the national security have been taught a lesson,” he said.

PM Modi has made people feel proud to be an Indian and enhanced the value of the Indian passport overseas, the home minister said.

Shah said it was due to the strong political will that the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and Kashi Vishwanath corridor were constructed during Modi’s tenure.

He lauded the efforts of trustees in running the Madhavbagh Laxminarayan Temple in the heart of Mumbai.

The institution has the sentiment of social service, which has made it a centre of cultural, religious and social activities, the Union home minister said.
