Srinagar, May 20: As part of the ongoing anti-drug drive under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir campaign, Srinagar Police on Tuesday demolished an unauthorized structure in the Lal Bazar area that was allegedly connected to a suspected drug trafficker.
Officials said the action was carried out by Police Station Lal Bazar at Haka Bazar, where a double-storey building along with additional rooms built on government land was removed. The property, estimated to be worth around ₹1.5 crore, covered nearly nine marlas of land.
Police sources stated that the property was allegedly linked to Arshid Ahmed Sheikh of Haka Bazar, who is wanted in multiple narcotics-related cases registered under the NDPS Act in both Srinagar and Jammu.
The demolition was conducted in the presence of the Executive Magistrate Khanyar and officials from the Srinagar Municipal Corporation. Authorities said the operation was done according to legal procedures and aimed at targeting assets believed to be connected with the drug trade.
Police said the operation remained peaceful and assured that efforts against drug trafficking will continue across the city. Residents have also been urged to support police by reporting drug-related activities in their localities.
