APRIL 5: A political controversy triggered over J&K reservation policy with Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo contradicting the claims of People’s Conference chief Sajad Lone.
Itoo lashed out at Sajad Lone and said he is misleading people and the Government is determined for reforming Reservation Policy.
Cabinet Minister accused Lone of dodging the facts for political gains adding that affidavit is not last decision of Government.
“Lone is playing politics on the sensitive issue,” said Sakina Itoo.
Pertinent to mention, Sajad Lone has said, “In an affidavit filed before the J&K High Court yesterday by J&K Government in the case of Zahoor Ahmed Bhat and others vs UT of J&K, pertaining to RESERVATIONS, J&K Government has submitted that the petition is frivolous and sought its outright dismissal. Nowhere has the government mentioned the formation of a sub-committee on reservations. This is a legal mystery. Lone further said, “Seems the Government is not taking its own committee serious enough to merit a mention in its legal affidavit.”
Sakina Itoo has clarified that the Government is committed to reforming the reservation policy, adding, CM Omar Abdullah wants fairness and reasonableness in reservation.
