Doda, July 11: Rajya Sabha MP Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo on Saturday announced financial assistance of ₹1 lakh for each family affected by the recent flash floods in Thathri town through his Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund.
Kichloo said the immediate focus should now shift from rescue operations to long-term rehabilitation. He also informed that officials have been asked to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for rebuilding the damaged drains so that restoration work can begin without delay.
Responding to concerns over relief measures, Kichloo said he spoke to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah shortly after the flash floods struck. According to him, the Chief Minister directed the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, and the Deputy Commissioner, Doda, to immediately launch rescue and relief operations.
He added that he would brief the Chief Minister on the ground situation and request him, or another minister, to visit Thathri to review rehabilitation efforts and the restoration of damaged infrastructure.
