AUG 22: MLA Gulmarg, Farooq Ahmad Shah, distributed appointment orders among newly appointed Anganwadi workers and helpers under ICDS HR Scheme, stressing the need to further strengthen the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) so that its benefits effectively reach the poorest sections of society.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA urged Anganwadi employees to perform their duties with dedication and compassion.
He said every child must be treated like their own, as the early years lay the foundation for the future. “This department directly works with poor families. Your responsibility is not just a job but also a service to humanity,” he remarked.
Shah expressed confidence that the induction of new workers will bring new energy into the department and help in its smooth functioning at the grassroots level. He said their services will ensure better delivery of nutrition, healthcare, and early education to children and mothers, which is vital for building a healthier and stronger society.
He further highlighted the crucial role of ICDS in addressing malnutrition, improving maternal and child health, and laying the groundwork for lifelong learning. By providing nutritious food, health support, and pre-school education, the department plays a pivotal role in nurturing the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of children, while also empowering underprivileged families.
