Jammu: A shocking firing incident in the Jewel area of Jammu has left one man dead, creating panic among local residents.
The victim has been identified as Sumit Jandial, 37, son of Om Parkash, a resident of Vijaypur. “He was brought dead to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu due to a gunshot injury sustained during the attack,” reports said.

According to reports, three to four rounds were fired near a red-colored Thar vehicle with license plate number JK21 0770. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and police have initiated a thorough investigation.
The incident occurred in a crowded area, causing chaos and fear among bystanders. Witnesses described the attackers as a group of four individuals who arrived in a SUV vehicle, opened fire on the victim, and fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Police have cordoned off the area and working diligently to trace the culprits. Spent bullet shells have been recovered from the scene, and CCTV footage is being reviewed to gather evidence.
An eyewitness stated, “I was standing near an auto-rickshaw when I heard the gunshots. People started running in panic. The attackers seemed organized and escaped swiftly after the firing.”
The incident has left the residents of the Jewel area and surrounding localities in shock and fear. Many are calling for stronger security measures to prevent such violent crimes in the future.
