J&K Govt Revises Dearness Allowance for Employees to 53%

Jammu: In a significant decision benefiting government employees, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced a revision in the Dearness Allowance (DA) under the 7th Pay Commission. The DA has been increased from 50% to 53% of the basic pay, effective from July 1, 2024.
According to Government Order No. 28-F of 2025, issued by the Finance Department, the revised DA will apply to all government employees working in regular pay levels as per the 7th Pay Commission.
The term “Basic Pay” refers to the pay drawn in the prescribed pay matrix level but excludes any special pay or additional allowances.
The arrears for the additional 3% DA installment, covering the period from July 2024 to December 2024, will be disbursed in cash in February 2025. Employees will see the revised DA reflected in their monthly salaries starting January 2025.
As per the order, fractions of 50 paisa or more will be rounded off to the next higher rupee, while fractions less than 50 paisa will be ignored.
The revision follows the decision made by the Council of Ministers under Decision No. 001/01/2025, dated January 20, 2025. Principal Secretary to the Government, Finance Department, Santosh D. Vaidya (IAS), issued the formal order in this regard.
The increase in DA comes as part of the government’s efforts to support its employees amidst rising inflation and ensure fair compensation in line with economic realities.
For further details, the order has been shared with key officials, including the Advocate General, Financial Commissioners, and administrative departments across Jammu and Kashmir.
This revision is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to government employees and reflects the administration’s proactive approach to addressing employee welfare.
