MAY 20: Following two weeks of hiatus, the Border Security Force (BSF) has said that the Beating Retreat ceremony will resume on Wednesday for the public.
In the course of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan which resulted in Operation Sindoor in response to Pahalgam carnage, the ceremony was suspended.
It is learnt that BSF on May 8 had put a pause on the event citing public safety.
Earlier it was declared that the ceremony will be stopped and BSF troops will not shake hands with Pak rangers and the gates will not be opened during the flag-lowering process.
The decision was taken in view of the Pahalgam massacre claiming 26 lives and constant violation of ceasefire.
Besides, the Beating Retreat ceremony performed at Wagah Border in Amritsar of Punjab is the only land entry and exit point between India and Pakistan and gets decent footfall of tourists.
