Srinagar, Apr 23: Security forces in Srinagar have detained four individuals, including a woman, suspected of acting as over ground workers (OGWs) and assisting militants with logistical support, officials confirmed on Thursday.
According to a senior police official speaking to a local news agency, the arrests were carried out late Wednesday night in the Hazratbal locality following a specific intelligence-led operation.
The detainees have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, and Shazia Mohammad, all residents of the Hazratbal area.
Police officials reported that a hand grenade, 15 rounds of ammunition compatible with an AK-47 rifle, four mobile phones, and a sum of cash were seized during the operation.
Authorities have registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
