JULY 11: Amid the heightened security cover, a fresh batch of more than 6,400 pilgrims, left for the twin base camps of the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine of Amarnath in the south Kashmir Himalayas on Friday.
It is learnt that over 1.30 lakh pilgrims have offered prayers at the shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva since the commencement of the 38-day annual yatra through the twin tracks of Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district.
Swept with zest and zeal and chanting the devotional songs, the 10th batch of 6,482 pilgrims, including 4,838 men, 1,387 women, 16 children, and 241 monks, left the Bhagwati Nagar camp in Jammu in the wee hours of Friday.
Notably, the first batch of yatra was flagged off by LG Manoj Sinha on July 2 from Jammu.
Pertinent to mention, the 38-day-long Yatra will culminate on August 9, 2925.
