Srinagar | April 17: The vital highway connecting Ladakh with the Kashmir Valley has been temporarily closed at Zojila Pass following fresh snowfall, resulting in a complete suspension of vehicular movement between Srinagar and Leh.
According to official sources, snowfall during the night and early morning hours led to the accumulation of snow on the road surface, creating slippery and hazardous driving conditions at several locations. In view of passenger safety, the district administration and traffic authorities decided to close the highway as a precautionary measure.
Officials stated that snow clearance machinery and personnel from the concerned departments were immediately deployed to the site and are working continuously to restore traffic movement. The highway will be reopened only after weather conditions improve and the road is declared safe for travel.
