Srinagar: BJP leader Ravinder Raina on Monday objected to remarks made by NC MLA Tanvir Sadiq over references to Lal Krishna Advani, saying senior leaders should be treated with respect.
Raina said that invoking Advani’s name while targeting any political group was inappropriate. “Advani sahab has served the country as Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. His name should be taken with dignity,” he said.
He added that political differences are natural, but personal remarks against senior leaders are not acceptable. “Tanvir Sadiq can continue his politics, we have no objection, but one must be careful while speaking about senior personalities,” Raina said.
The BJP leader further said that despite ideological differences, respect for senior leaders across parties is maintained. He cited leaders like Farooq Abdullah and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, saying differences may exist but respect should not be compromised.
Earlier, Tanvir Sadiq had termed the People’s Democratic Party a “Delhi creation,” alleging it was formed under the influence of Advani.
