DEC 1: Senior NC leader and Rajya Sabha MP Choudhary Mohd Ramzan revived the memory of the Government of India regarding Statehood on the first day of the Winter Session in Rajya Sabha, citing that the Government is powerless regardless of mandate.
Choudhary Ramzan added that Assembly Polls were held in October 2024 and National Conference emerged victorious but the Government is powerless due to absence of Statehood which makes LG administration major stakeholder in the Government.
MP Ramzan said, “Elections were held in October 2024, and these were fair elections, NC came to power and other parties like Congress and Independent Candidates are supporting it externnally. But it is unfortunate that our Government have nothing in hand as orders flow from LG’s seat.”
MP also emphasized that regardless of dastardly attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, people voted overwhelmingly and kept faith in the Government but if the Government has nothing in hands in terms of authority what is its purpose?
MP Choudhary Ramzan said our UT is small but issues are huge.
