Jammu, June 12: Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Thursday detained a man accused of falsely presenting himself as an officer of the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
The suspect, identified as Ankush, a resident of Kathua, was apprehended following a tip-off received by the police.
According to officials, the accused was travelling on a two-wheeler when he was stopped and questioned by law enforcement personnel. During verification, the identity card in his possession was found to be forged.
Initial investigations revealed that the man had allegedly been introducing himself to members of the public as an Intelligence Bureau official, misleading people about his identity.
Following the discovery, police took him into custody and launched further questioning to determine the extent of his activities and possible motives.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing, and additional details are expected to emerge as the inquiry progresses.
