Jammu, September 15: Police in Udhampur district have apprehended a man who had been evading arrest for nearly a decade in connection with a case registered in 2016.
The accused, identified as Mohd Tahir, a resident of Hanjana Thakra in Rajouri district, was arrested by a team from Rehambal Police on Monday.
According to police, Tahir was wanted in a case involving alleged disobedience of a government order and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The case was registered in 2016.
Officials said the accused had subsequently been declared an absconder, following which the Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur, issued arrest warrants against him on July 27, 2016.
Police said the arrest was carried out on the basis of the long-pending warrants. Tahir is expected to be produced before the court, where further legal proceedings will follow.
