‘Common man must feel a sense of security’
Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday directed the security forces to intensify the efforts to “crush terrorism and those aiding and abetting terrorists” in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Chaired a high-level security meeting today at PCR, Srinagar. Directed J&K Police and its various wings to work in close synergy with each other and intensify the efforts to crush terrorism and those aiding and abetting terrorists,” Sinha said in a series of posts on X.
The lieutenant governor said there will be a zero tolerance policy to tackle terrorism and the security forces have been given free hand to neutralize terror ecosystem.
“Directed officials to follow zero tolerance policy to tackle terrorism. I have given JKP & Security Forces free hand to neutralise terror ecosystem operating in the shadows. Those supporting & financing terrorism will have to pay a very heavy price,” he said.
Sinha said he has directed the officials to take strict action against those misusing cyberspace to carry out disruptive activities.
“I have asked the senior officials to take strict action against the elements exploiting cyber space to carry out their disruptive activities and disinformation campaign. We must aggressively counter fundamentalist and extremist ideas and take action as per the law,” he added.
DGP Nalin Prabhat briefed the lieutenant governor regarding the present security scenario of the valley and the roadmap put in place to counter the various security challenges like counter insurgency, law and order, protection of minorities and terrorist recruitment at zonal, range and district level.
Kashmir IGP V K Birdi also gave a detailed presentation highlighting the challenges and the achievements of the Kashmir Zone and strategic foresight for the future.
The lieutenant governor also took appraisal of the working of various wings of Jammu and Kashmir Police and expressed his satisfaction with regard to the crime related performance indices especially related to the UAPA and NDPS.
Addressing the meeting, Sinha said Jammu Kashmir is witnessing an era of peace, progress and prosperity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“I have full faith in your valour, effective, focused measures and better institutional arrangements to make Jammu Kashmir terror-free. Improved intelligence generation, coordination and precision in anti-terror operations are vital to meet the future security challenges,” he said.
Sinha said 360-degree approach against terrorism is critical to enhance the capability and performance in all dimensions of security challenges.
The lieutenant governor also asked the police officials to strictly follow the policy of property attachment in terror and narco-terror cases.
Sinha directed the officials to devise a result-oriented strategy to identify and neutralize foreign terrorists active in the Kashmir valley.
He called for systematic attention to terror ecosystem, which is providing support to adversarial forces and terrorists.
He also asked the police officials to focus on core policing and all aspects related to confidence building among the public, redressal of public grievances and connecting with local communities.
The lieutenant governor further emphasized on building a strong relationship based on trust between the police force and the common citizen.
“The common man must feel a sense of security. It is your sworn duty to protect the common citizen and take firm action by punishing the terrorists and their supporters,” Sinha said.
