Jammu, June 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police has released a detailed traffic and travel advisory ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, which is scheduled to take place from July 3 to August 28. Authorities have appealed to pilgrims, tourists and local commuters to strictly follow the prescribed traffic guidelines to ensure a safe and hassle-free journey during the pilgrimage period.
As per the advisory, restrictions will be imposed on civilian traffic movement through the Navyug Tunnel at designated hours to facilitate the smooth passage of Yatra convoys. Vehicles travelling from Kashmir towards Jammu will not be allowed to cross the tunnel before 11:30 am. Similarly, vehicles moving from Jammu towards Kashmir will not be permitted to enter the Navyug Tunnel after 3:00 pm on any day during the Yatra.
The police have also announced cut-off timings at various locations across the Valley. Vehicles travelling from Mir Bazar towards Srinagar and Anantnag are required to cross the area before 4:00 pm, while those heading towards the Navyug Tunnel must do so before 5:00 pm.
The advisory emphasises that these measures are aimed at ensuring the smooth movement of pilgrimage convoys and maintaining traffic discipline throughout the Yatra period. Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security and traffic personnel and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
