JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary said that the government is actively working on a comprehensive solution of daily wagers.
The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed chaotic scenes on Tuesday as members from various parties raised concerns over the lathi charge and detention of protesting daily wage employees from the Jal Shakti department. The employees have been demanding the release of pending wages and regularization of their jobs.
During the heated session, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary addressed the assembly, defending the government’s stance. He criticized the previous BJP-led government, accusing it of neglecting the concerns of daily wagers during its tenure.
“Those who failed to resolve this issue for 10 years are now questioning us. We are committed to delivering results within five years,” Choudhary asserted.
He acknowledged the hardships faced by daily wagers and assured the house that the current administration is actively working on a comprehensive solution.
“We understand their plight, and I assure you that we will address their concerns with sincerity,” he added.
The Deputy CM’s remarks came amid strong opposition protests, with some members demanding immediate intervention for the detained employees. The session highlighted the ongoing tension surrounding the unresolved issues faced by daily wage workers across the region.
