APRIL 7: On Monday, the Government of India (GoI) increased excise duty on Petrol and Diesel by Rs 2 per litre each defying the change in retail prices.
The move comes on the heels of falling of international oil prices.
As per Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, “PSU Companies have informed that have informed that there will be no increase in retail prices of Petrol and Diesel, subsequent to the increase effected in Excise Duty Rates today.”
Pertinent to mention, that the excise duty on petrol was increased to Rs 13 per litre and that on diesel to Rs 10 per litre.
In the currrent times, petrol is Rs 96.49 per liter, while diesel is priced at Rs 84.05 per liter in Jammu.
Before Parliamentary Polls held last year, the Government had slashed petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 per litre.
