Jammu: The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has directed all the Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents, and Block Medical Officers to ensure employees are not assigned tasks beyond their official duties. The employees should give their best in the work assigned to them.
The Director Health Services Kashmir issued a circular on Friday stating that it has been observed that some employees in various health institutions are being assigned tasks beyond their designated duties and responsibilities. The circular emphasizes that employees should only perform tasks within their officially assigned roles.
The Director has deemed the practice of assigning unofficial tasks “unacceptable” and attributed it to “poor administrative oversight.” He has directed all Chief Health Officers and relevant officials to ensure employees adhere to their designated roles and responsibilities.
The directive further said “If any officer believes an employee needs to perform additional work beyond their designated post and responsibilities, they must obtain proper permission for the same.” This has led to many employees being distracted from their core responsibilities.”
All employees posted in whichever department are expected to give their best in the work assigned to them. Despite this, if any employee is found to be distracted without permission, it will be taken seriously. If someone is appointed somewhere illegally and any work is taken from that employee, then action will be taken not only against the employee but also against the officer who took the work from him.
It is worthwhile to mention that such cases are seen in Health Directorate Kashmir as well as Health Directorate Jammu where employees are made to do work other than their post and they are forced to deviate from their original work.
One reason for this is that many posts are vacant and favorites are promoted. This affects the functioning of the department. It is expected that in the coming days, the Health Directorate Jammu may also issue a similar order.
Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo had also taken seriously the attachment of health workers without any reason a day earlier. Chaired a meeting at review overall healthcare infrastructure and facilities in Budhal and Surankote Assembly Constituencies.
Taking strong notice of shortage of specialist doctors, the Minister had directed the Secretary Health and Director Health to cancel all attachments immediately and post them at their designated places. She also asked them to deploy specialist doctors on roster basis at the health facilities of these constituencies in order to amplify healthcare services in these areas. The Minister asked the Secretary Health and Director Health to initiate action against the doctors indulging in private practice during working hours. She asked them to conduct surprise inspections of health facilities in order to make the doctors and other paramedical staff more accountable.
