Jammu: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir is making significant strides towards the digitization of land records, with nearly 99% of the work completed. Out of a total of 6,850 villages, digitization has been completed in 6,838 villages.
The process is being meticulously carried out to enhance transparency and accessibility, although some discrepancies in the data are being corrected.
The Revenue Department has also announced that the digitization process is being further enhanced with the integration of modern technology such as mobile tablets and electronic gadgets.
These advancements are aimed at improving service delivery for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that revenue-related tasks are streamlined and efficient.
As part of the ongoing modernization, accommodation for patwaries has been upgraded across many PatwarKhanas and government buildings.
These facilities are now equipped with separate record rooms to house the digitalized records securely. Moreover, mobile tablets are being provided to patwaries, making it easier for them to access and update records on the go.
Furthermore, the Revenue Department has established well-maintained record rooms at both divisional and district headquarters, with plans for further modernization once funds are made available under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) by the Government of India. These efforts will continue to ensure a more efficient and accessible revenue service system, contributing to the overall development of the region.
The government’s focus on digitization reflects its commitment to modernizing the land record management system and improving governance. Once fully implemented, this initiative is expected to reduce discrepancies, speed up processes, and provide greater transparency in revenue-related matters.
