NEW DELHI/JAMMU, AUGUST 1: The government has reduced the price of commercial LPG cylinders by ₹192 per 19-kg cylinder, providing relief to hotels, restaurants, and other commercial users. At the same time, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices have been increased by around ₹5 per litre. In Delhi, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs ₹2,738, down from ₹2,930, while ATF has been revised to nearly ₹115 per litre from ₹110.

This marks the second consecutive monthly reduction in commercial LPG prices after a ₹183.50 cut on July 1. In contrast, the latest increase in ATF prices reverses the reduction implemented last month.

Commercial LPG prices had surged sharply in June due to the West Asia crisis, with the cost of a 19-kg cylinder rising from ₹1,740.50 in February to a record ₹3,113.50. The price cuts in July and August have partially eased that increase.

The price of the 5-kg market-priced LPG cylinder has also been reduced from ₹808.50 to ₹762. Fuel prices are revised on the first day of every month based on international benchmark rates, foreign exchange movements, and local taxes, which is why prices vary across states.

There has been no change in the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder, which remains at ₹942. Domestic LPG prices were last revised upward on June 7 by ₹29 per cylinder.

Indian Oil Corporation Chairman A. S. Sahney said the company continues to incur an under-recovery of ₹503 on every 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder because retail prices remain below the actual cost.

Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices also remain unchanged following the increase implemented in May.
