Kulgam, July 31: In a major political development in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, several senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders resigned from the party on Friday with immediate effect.
The leaders who stepped down include Youth Leader Zulfkar Razatul Hussain, Devsar Block President Bashir Ahmad Zakir, Qaimoh Block President Ghulam Nabi, senior leader and former Qaimoh Block President Mohd Maqbool Mir, and Youth PDP Qaimoh Block Secretary Yawar Ahmad Ganie.
In a joint statement, the leaders said they had taken the decision after careful consideration, expressing disappointment with the party’s functioning. They alleged that the hard work and commitment of grassroots workers had not been recognised, while their concerns and suggestions were repeatedly ignored.
They said they entered politics to serve the people with honesty, transparency and dedication but felt they could no longer continue their political journey within the PDP under the present circumstances.
The leaders thanked their supporters, well-wishers and party workers for their continued support and said they remain committed to serving the people and working for their welfare and development.
