Jammu: As the Civil Secretariat and other government offices prepare to reopen in Jammu on Monday following the annual Darbar Move, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reiterated his Government’s focus on inclusive, people-centric development, with an emphasis on taking governance to the grassroots and ensuring that the benefits of development reach every region of Jammu and Kashmir.
Over the past year, the Chief Minister has undertaken extensive visits across the Union Territory, reaching remote villages, towns and urban centres to interact directly with people, listen to their grievances and understand their developmental aspirations.
The Government said these public engagements have helped shape its priorities, with particular attention to issues affecting everyday life, including road connectivity, safe drinking water, reliable electricity, environmental protection, healthcare, education, skill development, sports and modern public infrastructure.
Highlighting the development initiatives undertaken during this period, the Government pointed to several major projects and proposals aimed at improving urban infrastructure, strengthening essential services and expanding economic opportunities across Jammu and Kashmir.
These include the proposed modern solid waste management facility at Achan in Srinagar, a mega water supply scheme in Udhampur and the development of new industrial estates across the Union Territory.
The Government has also highlighted tourism, cultural and recreational initiatives, including Tawi Wonderland, the establishment of Unity Malls and the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir, as part of its efforts to promote investment, tourism and economic activity.
According to the Government, these initiatives are intended to address the developmental requirements of different regions while creating new opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable economic growth.
The Chief Minister’s approach, as outlined by the Government, places emphasis on regular field visits, direct interaction with citizens and follow-up on public grievances, with the objective of making administration more responsive and accountable.
With the Darbar Move bringing the Civil Secretariat and other offices back to Jammu for the next six months, the administration is expected to continue its functioning from the winter capital while maintaining its focus on development and public service delivery across both regions.
The Government has reiterated its commitment to building an inclusive, progressive and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that development initiatives extend beyond major urban centres and reach remote and underserved areas as well.
