Handwara, Kupwara — October 31, 2025 — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reaffirmed his party’s pledge to fulfill all promises made to the people of Jammu & Kashmir before asking for their support in the next election.
Speaking at a public rally in Handwara, Omar emphasized that the National Conference remains firmly committed to its agenda. “Every promise we made last September will be delivered. Only after we’ve done that will we return to you to ask for your trust again,” he said.
He highlighted the party’s focus on fair representation, economic upliftment, and job creation, stressing that meaningful change begins with inclusive governance. Omar also referenced a resolution passed in the November Assembly session, which called for the restoration of J&K’s special status and Constitutional protections—a move he said reflects the collective will of the people.
Criticizing the Centre for not fulfilling its assurance to restore Statehood, Omar pledged to continue advocating for political and Constitutional rights at every forum. “We will not let these demands fade. They will be raised again and again,” he declared.
The Chief Minister congratulated Chaudhary Ramzan on his recent Rajya Sabha win, calling him the ideal choice to represent the region. He added that the three NC nominees will ensure J&K’s voice is heard in Parliament once more, after years of absence.
Omar also promised that Handwara will be granted district status once Statehood is reinstated. “You won’t have to fight for it—it will be yours,” he said, drawing applause from the crowd.
Welcoming Ashiq Neelum, a former People’s Conference leader, into the National Conference, Omar said his presence would strengthen the party’s base in Kupwara and north Kashmir.
Despite attempts by rivals to distract and provoke, Omar said the party remains focused on its mission and the people’s trust. He brushed off BJP’s allegations of MCC violations, saying simply, “No problem.”
