MAY 5: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that the Central Government “at the highest level” expressed a strong desire that the development of Jammu and Kashmir does not hamper after Pahalgam bloodshed.
While addressing a review meeting with top officials at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah acknowledged a shadow the terror incident has cast on the tourism sector.
CM Omar later shared details of his recent visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi citing that he does not want the Pahalgam massacre to impede the process of development and governance.
“That is our responsibility that we will have to look after it,” said CM.
Additionally, the CM Omar pitched collective efforts to ensure a smooth Amarnath Yatra, stressing that the civil administration had its own responsibilities that will be fulfilled no matter what.
Besides, Omar Abdullah also laid emphasis on the development, implementation of budget announcements and ensuring effective governance in view of the current challenges.
Deputy CM Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Cabinet Ministers Sakeena Itoo, Javed Ahmed Rana, Javed Ahmed Dar and Satish Sharma also attended the meeting.
