MARCH 19: Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Jitendra Singh said that in order to avoid distractions during the training programmes, four astronauts selected for India’s first Space Flight Mission “Gaganyaan” have been kept away from public glare.
Dr Jitendra Singh named the individuals as – Group Captain Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, Angad Prathap, Ajit Krishnan and Shubanshu Shukla who have been selected for Gaganyaan.
Dr Singh, said in Lok Sabha, “Keeping the opinion in mind that too much public and media attention would distract them from key goal.”
Dr Jitendra Singh was responding to a question in Lok Sabha on why these astronauts have been kept away from public eyes.
Union Minister also apprised that one of the astronauts, Shubanshu Shukla, would flank with astronauts from other countries on their journey to the International Space Station.
