Sonamarg, June 18: Ahead of the annual Amarnath Ji Yatra, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has called on the people of Kashmir to extend warmth and hospitality to pilgrims visiting the Valley, saying the pilgrimage offers a chance to strengthen bonds and promote mutual understanding.
Speaking to locals in Sonamarg, Mufti said Kashmir has always been known for its compassion and generosity, and urged people to ensure that devotees return home with fond memories of the Valley and its rich cultural heritage.
She said welcoming pilgrims with respect and kindness would help counter misconceptions and reflect the true values of Kashmir and Islam. According to Mufti, the Yatra is not only a religious event but also an opportunity to showcase the spirit of communal harmony and coexistence that the region stands for.
The remarks come as authorities across Jammu and Kashmir are finalising arrangements and security measures for the upcoming pilgrimage.
