APRIL 17: On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Naxalism is limited to just four districts in India, will be rooted out by March 31, 2026 and CRPF is “backbone” of this mission.
While addressing the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) 86th Raising Day function in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district, Shah reiterated his commitment in eliminating Naxalism by March 2026 wherein CRPF will play pivotal part.
“With the limitation of Naxalism to just four districts in country, the menace will end by March 31, 2026, as stated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Shah said outrightly, adding, the CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) and the CRPF, especially its CoBRA battalion, will be major contributers in eradicating the Naxalism from the country.
Outlining the efforts of Central Force, Shah said, “The CRPF has established over 400 forward operating bases in areas where Naxalism is at peak owing to which violence in these regions has subsided more than 70% as it is now in the last leg.”
Union Home Minister said that when it comes to contributing to national security, CRPF’s role is pertinent.
“It can be witnessed as they have dealt with terrorists in the Kashmir valley with iron hand, ensured peace in the Northeast, or limited Naxalites to just four districts today,” Shah said.
