APRIL 12: In the tragic school bus accident in Handwara, one more student succumbs to injuries taking the death toll to two.
Earlier in the morning, on Saturday, one student died and 22 others survived critical wounds after the bus they were traveling met with an accident near Vodpora area of Handwara in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condoles the demise of two students.
Taking to X, CM Omar posted, “The loss of two young promising students from GDC Sogam, in the tragic accident near Handwara is a tragedy that weighs heavily on all of us. My deepest condolences to their families in this hour of grief. Prayers for the swift recovery of the injured. We are closely monitoring the situation and ensuring all necessary assistance.”
Education Minister Sakina Itoo has expressed grief and sorrow on the incident.
Sakina Itoo expresses solidarity with the bereaved family and wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured. Itoo has directed hospitals to prioritize medical care of injured students.
