SRINAGAR: Member of Parliament (MP) Baramulla Er Rashid attended the proceedings of Lok Sabha for the first time since he was elected as MP in the Parliamentary Elections held in 2024.
Engineer Rashid’s attendance was confirmed by his younger brother and MLA Langate Shiekh Khursheed who said, “He was brought from Tihar to attend the proceedings.”
The Delhi HC on 10 February has granted parole of two-day to J&K Awami Ithehad Party chief Engineer Rashid to participate in Parliament session.
Pertinent to mention, On 5th February 2025, HC has sought the stance of National Investigation Agency (NIA) to attend the ongoing session of Parliament Budget Session on custody parole.
On 7th February 2025, the Delhi High Court reserved its order on a plea by jailed MP Baramulla Engineer Rashid seeking the custody parole to attend the ongoing Parliament session.
Earlier several political leaders including incumbent CM Omar Abdullah had raised concerns on the deteriorating health of Engineer Rashid.
Apart from this, People’s Conference chief Sajad Lone and senior CPI(M) leader MY Tarigami had expressed concern over his health and had asked the authorities to take proper care of Rashid.
