Raises public concerns on power tariffs, ration shortages, and governance issues

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Tariq Karra on Sunday said that a decision has been taken in New Delhi regarding the DPAP leaders who had left Ghulam Nabi Azad and want to join the Congress, and the matter will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
MLA Karra made these remarks while addressing the media in Srinagar.
Karra said, “In the past two or three days, we have held organizational meetings with our leaders in Kashmir province. Apart from discussions on organizational matters, specific public issues have also emerged during these meetings. These include concerns about electricity, smart meters, power tariffs, ration supplies, and the regularization of casual laborers.
We want to bring these issues to the attention of the relevant authorities so that they can be addressed as soon as possible. Karra said the people should not perceive that their votes have gone to waste.
“People are saying they voted, but no work is happening. We understand that business rules are not yet clear, and statehood has not been restored, but there is a sense of cynicism among the people,” he said.
“There are two reasons for this—either a democratically elected government is not being allowed to function, or officials in various positions are uncertain due to unclear business rules,” Karra added.
The central government has the most significant role in this regard, as some powers the government should have received are still not in its hands. This situation is also a factor in the delays, he said.
Asked if there were also reports that some leaders were returning to Congress, MLA Karra said, “Regarding this, I have already mentioned that discussions have taken place in Delhi. Leaders from the DPAP who had left Ghulam Nabi Azad and resigned are now willing to join Congress. Our stance in this matter has been clear. During the discussions in Delhi, it was decided that each case would be considered individually.”
However, due to time constraints on both sides, a complete discussion has not yet taken place. He mentioned that once these case-by-case discussions are completed, the outcome will be made public.
