JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has approved the implementation of a 3-tier faculty structure in Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Jammu, and Government Dental College, Srinagar.
As per Government Order No. 95-JK (HME) of 2025, 24 Lecturer posts—11 in Jammu and 13 in Srinagar—have been upgraded to Assistant Professor (Level-11) by correspondingly reducing the existing Lecturer positions. Additionally, nine new Associate Professor posts—five in Jammu and four in Srinagar—have been created by adjusting the remaining Lecturer posts.
The restructuring is in line with Council of Ministers Decision No. 003/01/2025, dated January 20, 2025, and aims to streamline faculty hierarchy, improve career progression for teaching staff, and strengthen academic programs in both dental colleges.
The sanctioned faculty structure across various disciplines in both institutions has been detailed in Annexure-A of the order, while Annexure-B lists the Lecturers who have been re-designated as Assistant Professors against the upgraded posts.
