Jammu: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday charge-sheeted four accused, including three killed Pakistani terrorists, in connection with a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district in February this year.
The chargesheet was filed before a special NIA court in Jammu against arrested accused Maneer Ahmed, son of Mohammad Yousuf Koli, resident of Naidgam, Chatroo, Inderwal, district Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir; and three killed Pakistani terrorists, including Saifullah alias Saifullah Kashmiri alias Atiq Nazir alias Atiq Ur Rehman, a statement issued by the probe agency said.
The case pertains to the terrorist attack on February 22 at Chatroo, Wani Mohalla, Passer Kote in Kishtwar.
The 535-page chargesheet details the conspiracy, the role of the three killed terrorists, including Saifullah, a resident of Pakistan and commander of the proscribed terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and of the arrested accused Ahmed, along with the supporting evidence in the case, the statement said.
It charges Ahmed with voluntarily harbouring and concealing terrorists involved in attacks on security forces and civilians in the hilly Kishtwar district of J&K Union Territory, under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
The NIA has also invoked the penal section against the accused terrorists for waging war against India and hatching a conspiracy from across the border, it said.
“The NIA’s investigation, spanning almost five months, has traced the conspiracy in the case to Pakistan,” the statement said.
The attack involved three terrorists led by terror commander Saifullah, affiliated with the Kashmir Tigers (Azrael Group), which acts under the proscribed terrorist organisation JeM, the probe agency said.
Retaliatory fire from the security forces led to the killing of all three. The group, which was active in the upper reaches of Kishtwar district, was found to have conducted several attacks that resulted in the killing of security forces personnel and locals.
The arrested accused, Ahmed, is involved in providing support to the group, the NIA said.
