Kupwara, June 15: A tragic road accident took place in the Marsary area of Chowkibal in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday evening, leaving one elderly woman dead and two others injured.
Officials said an Alto car lost control and plunged into a nearby gorge, resulting in the accident.
The deceased has been identified as Shamsunissa (75), wife of Hidayatullah Qureshi and a resident of Bagbella, Karnah. She died on the spot after sustaining critical injuries.
Her body has been shifted to Sub-District Hospital Kralpora for medico-legal formalities.
The driver of the vehicle and his wife, Zeenat Begum, were also injured and admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Police have registered the case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
