Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir authorities on Wednesday intensified their crackdown on narcotics trafficking, demolishing houses linked to alleged drug peddlers, attaching property worth ₹1.20 crore, disengaging a Special Police Officer (SPO) involved in a narcotics case, and arresting two alleged drug peddlers with heroin valued at over ₹50 lakh.

In Jammu’s Bishnah area, authorities demolished two residential houses allegedly belonging to drug peddlers Falla Gujjar and Bashir Ahmad at Chak Waziru. The action was carried out following legal procedures under tight security arrangements and in the presence of senior civil and police officials. Officials said both accused were involved in multiple drug-related cases.

The demolition follows an earlier action against the house of Lau Gujjar, brother of Falla Gujjar, who was arrested earlier this year in connection with criminal cases. Authorities said the move is part of a wider campaign to dismantle drug networks and curb the spread of narcotics.

Meanwhile, in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police attached a double-storey residential house worth approximately ₹1.20 crore belonging to alleged drug peddler Manzoor Mir alias “Mann Tiger” of Kadlabal Pampore under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. Police said investigations revealed the property was acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking. The accused is reportedly involved in multiple narcotics-related FIRs.

In north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police disengaged SPO Khalid Nazir Khan of Katipora, Tangmarg, from service with immediate effect following his alleged involvement in an NDPS case. According to police, Khan was among occupants of a vehicle intercepted during naka checking at Wussan Crossing in Kunzer on April 23. Syringes, needles and silver foil paper allegedly used for consuming narcotic substances were recovered during the search. A case was subsequently registered under Sections 8, 27 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

Further tightening the noose around drug traffickers, Samba Police arrested two alleged peddlers in separate operations and recovered over 113 grams of heroin-like substance.

At Tarapur Road near Rakh Barotian, Vijaypur Police apprehended Shabir Ahmed and recovered approximately 53.03 grams of heroin-like substance, a weighing machine and cash from his possession. Police described him as a notorious drug peddler allegedly involved in several criminal cases.

In a separate operation near Nihalki in Bari Brahmana, police arrested Deepak Kumar and recovered around 60 grams of heroin-like substance. Officials estimated the seized narcotics to be worth between ₹50 lakh and ₹60 lakh in the international market.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police said anti-narcotics operations will continue across the Union Territory to dismantle drug networks, seize illegally acquired assets and safeguard communities from the menace of drugs.
