SRINAGAR, May 11: A fresh weather advisory issued for Jammu and Kashmir has predicted cloudy conditions, intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms across several areas of the Union Territory from May 11 to May 13.
According to officials, the changing weather system is expected to impact both Kashmir and Jammu regions, with chances of lightning, gusty winds and hailstorms in some places, mainly during afternoon and evening hours.
Authorities said a few areas could witness moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, while higher reaches may also experience hailstorm activity.
As a precautionary measure, temporary suspension of boating and shikara services has been advised during vulnerable hours at Dal Lake and other tourist water bodies.
Farmers have been asked to avoid working in fields and orchards between May 11 and 13 due to the risk of lightning strikes, strong winds and hail, which could damage crops and pose safety risks.
Officials further stated that the wet spell is likely to bring a drop in daytime temperatures following the recent warm weather conditions in parts of the region.
The advisory comes after recent weather-related incidents in higher areas, including reports of livestock losses caused by lightning strikes in grazing zones.
People have been urged to remain alert, avoid unnecessary movement during thunderstorms and follow instructions issued by district administrations and disaster management authorities.
