New Delhi/Washington: India will mark the first anniversary of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam with a special exhibition in Washington, D.C., aimed at highlighting the human cost of terrorism and strengthening global awareness against cross-border militancy.
Organized by the Indian Embassy near Capitol Hill, the exhibition will feature stories of victims, photographs, and information related to past terror incidents. Officials say the event is part of India’s broader diplomatic outreach to build international consensus for a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and to keep global attention focused on the threat posed by militant networks.
The Pahalgam attack, which occurred last year, claimed 26 lives and injured several others, shocking the nation and raising fresh concerns about security in one of Jammu and Kashmir’s most popular tourist destinations. Known for its scenic beauty and as a gateway to the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, Pahalgam holds significant importance for tourism and local livelihoods in the region.
Meanwhile, security forces have stepped up vigilance across Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the anniversary. Patrols along the Line of Control and the International Border have been intensified, while additional security personnel have been deployed at key tourist spots, including Pahalgam, to ensure the safety of visitors during the peak travel season.
The anniversary observance is expected to serve both as a tribute to the victims and as a reminder of India’s continued diplomatic and security efforts to counter terrorism
