SEPT 22: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday chaired a follow-up meeting on post-flood rehabilitation and relief in Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Health and Medical Education, School Education and Social Welfare, Sakina Masood (Itoo); Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana; Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Election, Javed Dar; Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology and Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and other prominent officials.
At the outset of the meeting the chair was given an overview about steps undertaken by the Administration to improve connectivity on roads and restoration work.
While emphasizing to strengthen the organisation sinews, CM Omar Abdullah directed the office-bearers of various departments to generate momentum in taking stock of the damages, pace up restoration works, and ensure the timely distribution of relief.
“The office-bearers of various departments must ramp up in assessing the damages caused due to calamity, expedite in the restortaion work and make certain timely distribution of relief,” CM Omar instructed.
CM Omar further laid emphasis on the accountability, meritocracy and institutional integrity of the Government.
Besides, CM also stressed upon to reach out to the last person in the row and asked to intensify the efforts at the grassroot level.
CM instructed the authorities to ensure effective synergy between stakeholders and implementation agencies. Besides, CM Omar asked to focus on capacity building measures in conjunction with financial support mechanism.
CM Omar Abdullah was also apprised that connectivity has been largely restored with most roads reopened.
