CHINA, SEPT 1: Asserting that the double standards are not acceptable, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday presented India’s strong standpoint against terrorism, denouncing some countries for their open support to terrorism.
During the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in the Chinese port city of Tianjin, PM Narendra Modi said that the Pahalgam terror attack stood as an open challenge for all the nations who believe in humanity and asked SCO Members to stand united in their fight against terrorism.
PM Modi said that India which has been the victim of terrorism since several decades, recently witnessed the worst side of it in Pahalgam.
“I express gratitude to the nations who stood with us against terrorism,” PM Modi said.
“We have to raise voice in unison against terrorism and double standards in this regard are unacceptable. We have to oppose terrorism in every form and colour. This is a duty towards humanity,” he added.
PM Modi emphasized zero-tolerance for cross-border terrorism and further said its foundation rests on three key pillars – security, connectivity and opportunity.”
PM Modi outlined India’s initiative to combat terrorism, terming it as challenge for all of humanity.
“Security counts as an important aspect in the development of any nation, however, terrorism, separatism are big challenges. Terrorism stands as the common challenge to whole humanity. No country or society is safe in clutches of terrorism. Hence, India stressed upon the unity against terrorism,” PM Modi said.
“At least 26 lives were claimed in Pahalgam bloodshed in April of this year, on the heels of which India launched Operation Sindoor wherein strikes were launched on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK,” PM said.
