AUG 7: At least three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel lost lives and 15 sustained injuries after vehicle met with an accident in Udhampur.
As per the reports, three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel lost lives and 15 sustained critical wounds after vehicle ferrying them skidded off the road and rolled down a deep gorge in Kadwa area in Udhampur
It is learnt that the vehicle belonged to the 187th Battalion of the force.
The injured have been evacuated to nearby hospital for treatment of multiple injuries.
Following the tragic incident, MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh posted on X, “Udhampur: Disturbing to receive the news of a road accident involving a CRPF vehicle in the Kandva–Basantgarh area. The vehicle was carrying several brave jawans of the CRPF.
Singh’s post added, “I have just now spoken to DC Saloni Rai, who is personally monitoring the situation and keeping me updated. Rescue measures have been initiated immediately. Locals have voluntarily come forward to assist. All possible help being ensured.”
Later, LG Manoj Sinha said, “Saddened by loss of CRPF personnel due to an accident near Udhampur. We will never forget their exemplary service to the nation. My thoughts are with bereaved families. Praying for speedy recovery of injured. Directed senior officials to ensure best possible care & assistance.”
