Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the Chief Minister’s Digital Internship Programme 2026 (Batch-I), a six-month paid initiative aimed at providing talented local youth with practical experience in emerging technologies and digital governance.
The programme, to be implemented by the J&K e-Governance Agency, will provide eligible students an opportunity to work on real-world government technology projects and gain first-hand exposure to the functioning of digital governance systems.
Students pursuing BE/B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA and M.Sc. in Computer Science or Information Technology will be eligible to participate in the programme.
The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application by allowing interns to contribute to technology-driven solutions for governance and public service delivery.
During the six-month internship, participants will gain hands-on experience in areas including GovTech, cybersecurity and digital services.
The programme will also provide structured mentorship from experienced professionals and experts, enabling interns to strengthen their technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities and professional skills.
The initiative will offer selected interns a monthly stipend of ₹10,000, providing financial support while they gain practical workplace experience.
To encourage excellence and innovation, interns will receive certificates signed by the Chief Minister upon completion of the programme.
Projects demonstrating exceptional performance and innovation will also be considered for the ‘Best Intern Initiative Award’.
The programme is part of the government’s broader efforts to empower educated youth by creating meaningful opportunities for them to apply their skills to real-world challenges. By bringing young technology professionals into the digital governance ecosystem, the initiative seeks to promote innovation and develop practical solutions for improving public services.
The Chief Minister’s Digital Internship Programme 2026 is also expected to provide participants with valuable exposure to government processes and emerging digital technologies, helping them build professional capabilities that can support their future careers in the technology sector.
